Get the Android appon Google PlayMicDrop-macOS folder.Install MicDrop.command. A Terminal window opens and asks for your Mac password (the letters don't show while you type). The installer copies MicDrop.vst3 and MicDrop.component into /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins.macOS may also ask whether MicDrop can find devices on your local network or accept incoming connections. Allow it, so your phone can reach the plugin.
Install MicDrop.bat in the MicDrop-Windows folder and click Yes when Windows asks to allow changes. It copies MicDrop.vst3 to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3.When Windows Firewall asks about MicDrop Engine, allow it on Private networks only. Your phone needs it to reach the plugin over Wi-Fi.

Download the new zip and run its installer the same way. Your recordings and pairing stay as they are, and the previous plugin is kept in a backup folder (/Library/Application Support/MicDrop/Plugin Backups on Mac, C:\Program Files\Common Files\MicDrop Backups on Windows). Rescan plugins in your DAW afterwards.
Close your DAW and delete the plugin:
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/MicDrop.vst3 and /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/MicDrop.componentC:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\MicDrop.vst3Your recordings in the Music/MicDrop/Recordings folder are not deleted. Remove them yourself if you don't need them.
To check a download is complete and unmodified, compare its SHA-256 checksum with these.
