Privacy policy

Recorded takes are stored locally on your Android device and can be sent to your paired MicDrop plugin when you choose, or automatically if Auto Send is enabled. Recordings made during an approved Remote Session are automatically queued for return to that producer, including when general Auto Send is off.

Information MicDrop handles

MicDrop may handle audio recordings, take metadata, desktop names, desktop IDs, pairing tokens, IP addresses, route diagnostics, transfer status, file metadata, preferences, and error messages needed for pairing, transfer, and troubleshooting.

How information is used

Information is used for app functionality: recording takes, managing local files, pairing with your computer, transferring audio, showing Live Mic status, and diagnosing connection issues.

Sharing and transfer

Audio files and metadata stay on your device unless you send them to your paired computer or an approved Remote Session producer. The recipient controls received copies; deleting a phone take does not delete those copies. MicDrop includes no analytics SDKs. Your recordings, takes and pairing data are never shared with advertisers.

Advertising (free version)

The free version of the Android app shows banner ads from Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). MicDrop Pro subscribers do not see ads, and the ad SDK does not load ads for them.

To show and measure ads, Google may collect or receive your device's advertising ID, IP address (and an approximate location derived from it), device and app information such as model, Android version and app version, and how you interact with ads, such as views and taps. Google uses this to deliver ads, measure performance, prevent fraud and, where you allow it, personalize ads. Google's handling is described at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent with Google's consent form before ads are personalized. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices. On any Android phone you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (on some phones, Google → Ads).

The ad SDK never receives your audio, takes, take names, pairing tokens or Remote Session data.

On-device processing, sharing and diagnostics

• Studio Cleanup runs entirely on your phone (a DeepFilterNet3 model with ONNX Runtime, or MicDrop's spectral denoiser). No audio or model data leaves the device for cleanup. The original recording is kept beside the cleaned copy until you delete it.
• Trim and level and cleanup previews write extra WAV files in the app's private storage; nothing is uploaded.
• Share (WAV or MP3), Save to Files and Export all takes (ZIP) happen only when you pick a destination in Android's share sheet or file picker. The app or location you choose then controls that copy. MP3 encoding happens on the phone.
• Diagnostics log: the app keeps a small rolling log (up to 1 MB) on the phone of capture, connection, upload and crash events: event names, errors, desktop name and local network address, take IDs and sizes, device model and Android version. It contains no audio, pairing tokens or purchase tokens, and leaves the phone only if you send it with Settings → Send feedback.
• Language: the app's language (English, Hindi or Spanish) is an on-device Android setting.

Live Mic

Live Mic streams microphone audio to your paired computer on your local network, or to an approved Remote Session producer, only while you have started it. Recording and Live Mic show a persistent microphone notification with a Stop action.

Remote Sessions

Remote Sessions use a direct, encrypted WebRTC connection for live vocals and recorded takes. The HTTPS service at signal.micdrop.online matches six-digit codes and exchanges temporary connection addresses, ICE credentials, session identifiers, device names, and certificate fingerprints after producer approval. It receives no audio files, microphone stream, local pairing tokens, or purchase tokens. A code is not proof of identity: confirm your collaborator before accepting.

Codes expire within ten minutes and pending requests within two minutes. Connection descriptions are cleared after connection or session end; expired metadata is pruned. Short-lived rate limits use hashed network identifiers. Hosting infrastructure also processes source IP addresses for network operation and security. Completed audio copies remain under the recipient's control.

Music Stream lets an approved producer send accompaniment from their plugin directly to the singer. It plays on wired or USB headphones when connected, otherwise on Bluetooth or the phone speaker. Recording timing metadata can include song position, tempo, transport state, session and desktop identifiers, sample rate, and input/output hardware timestamps to align a returned take. Timing sidecars are stored alongside phone recordings and sent with the take to the producer, not to signaling or subscription hosting.

Public Google STUN services help discover your internet address and receive network address information, but no audio. MicDrop operates no audio relay or cloud storage for Remote Sessions. Restrictive networks may prevent a direct connection. A private random installation capability is retained locally for transfer resumption. Bounded incomplete transfers can remain on the producer's computer after disconnection; partials older than 24 hours are pruned when a new transfer starts. Successful transfer or explicit cancellation removes the partial, while completed files remain under the producer's control.

Subscriptions and daily allowance

MicDrop Pro is sold as a Google Play subscription. Google Play processes the payment, and the app checks your active subscription with Google Play on your phone; MicDrop never receives your payment card details.

Daily allowance and app activity. Free users can record and use Live Mic for 45 minutes a day. To count this, the app contacts pro.micdrop.online over HTTPS. The service identifies each installation by an anonymous ID derived from an Android Keystore key created on your phone; there is no account or name. It receives that public key and sign-in proofs, recording and Live Mic session IDs and durations, and request IP addresses. While the app is open it also checks in about once a minute with the app version, phone model, Android version and country (from the mobile network or your phone's region setting), whether the phone is connected to the plugin and how (Wi-Fi or Remote Session), and a guess at the computer type (Mac or Windows) from the computer's name. With these check-ins it sends daily counts: takes recorded, delivered and failed, recording and Live Mic minutes, the recording formats used, and which features were used (such as Studio Cleanup, Export all, Remote Session and opening the Pro screen). We use this to see how many people use MicDrop and which features matter, never to identify you. It never receives your voice, audio files, take names, desktop pairing tokens or payment details.

Subscriptions. When the app checks your subscription with Google Play, it also sends pro.micdrop.online the Google Play order ID, the plan (monthly or yearly), purchase time and auto-renew status, and a one-way hash of the purchase token (the token itself is not stored), so we can count active subscribers. Free recording needs an internet connection while the daily allowance is counted; Pro recording does not.

You can restore purchases and manage or cancel subscriptions through Google Play. Deleting recordings or uninstalling MicDrop does not cancel a subscription.

Retention and deletion

You can delete takes in the app. Pairing data and preferences remain on your device until changed or the app is uninstalled. Deleting a phone take does not delete a copy already transferred to a computer. Uninstalling the app removes its private data from the phone; files on your computer must be deleted separately.

The allowance service keeps daily usage, app-time and session records for 30 days, and an installation's latest check-in (app version, phone model, Android version, last seen) until you ask us to delete it. Reported subscription records are kept while the subscription is active and for up to 90 days afterwards. Sign-in challenges expire after one minute, and redacted operational logs are kept for up to seven days. Purchase verification records are retained while a subscription is active and for up to 90 days afterward. For server-data deletion requests, email support@micdrop.online; minimal records necessary for subscription verification or fraud prevention may need to be retained as explained in the response.

Security note

The subscription and allowance service uses HTTPS. The local connection between the app and the plugin uses HTTP and local Live Mic datagrams, which are not encrypted in transit. Use a trusted private network.

This website

micdrop.online uses no cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. Like any website, our hosting provider processes visitors' IP addresses and request details in server logs to deliver pages and keep the service secure.
